Every sailor has his own story. There is no single path that leads to the deck of the yacht.
Some people grew up by the lake, others have been sailing with their parents since childhood. There are also those who set foot on a yacht for the first time as adults and discovered that this was what they had been missing all their lives.
My story began much earlier than I knew it.
Whenever I saw water, yachts and open sails, I felt something difficult to describe. Composure. Freedom. An inexplicable attraction to the sea. I couldn't sail yet, but I knew that one day I wanted to be part of this world.
Later I watched the movie Squall. It was a moment that stayed in my memory for a long time. I wanted to be on board the Albatros. I wanted to be one of the students learning about life under sail. And most of all, I wanted to be a captain like Jeff - a man who leads others through the sea and through life with his knowledge, calmness and experience.
Today I know that each of us finds our own reason for starting sailing. For some it is an adventure. For others, it's a childhood dream. Someone is looking for freedom, someone is looking for silence, and someone just wants to try something new.
If you feel that sailing attracts you, don't postpone your dream. Take the first step.
It's best to start by cruising with someone who really knows how to sail. Listen to stories from people with experience. Ask questions. Observe. Learn not only how to operate a yacht, but also sailing culture, safety rules and good habits. They are the ones that make the biggest difference later.
Of course, there are people who seem to have sailing in their blood. But even the greatest talent requires good teachers and constant improvement. In sailing, humility and learning never end.
That's why on our blog we want to talk not only about technology, but also about the people, experiences and values that create real sailing.
